Yes, this amazing hybrid picking lick is…a country guitar lick, and a funk guitar lick. It dices, it slices 🙂 Sometimes guitar licks get pigeonholed into one music style or another. When in reality the exact same guitar lick can be played over different backgrounds and take on a new character depending on the context.
The guitar lick in this video guitar lesson can just as easily be played in a funk tune, or a country tune. It’s just a dominant 7th guitar lick that uses some hybrid picking. And while hybrid guitar picking is often used in country guitar, it also creates a percussive sound that works well in Funk. So don’t fear using your chickin’ pickin’ guitar licks in your Funk.
