What the heck does Woody Woodpecker have to do with blues guitar? Well in this video guitar lesson I’m going to show you how the Woody Woodpecker Theme Song can be adapted to play over a blues in the key of E. Just think of the Woody Woodpecker laugh as just another lead guitar lick.

Woody Woodpecker Blues in E – Guitar Tablature
Swing 8th Note Feel
As I mentioned in the video guitar lesson you will use sweep picking when there are 3 notes in a row on adjacent strings. Like the first 3 notes.
Woody Woodpecker Theme Song Riff in E
Besides playing the blues arrangement above, it’s good to learn the main Woody Woodpecker Theme Song riff as a separate guitar lick idea. One that you can use over any major chord or major key. The note on the 9th fret of the 3rd string is an E note. So if you want to play this melody in another key, just move it up or down the neck as needed.
For instance if you play everything 2 frets lower so that same note on the 3rd strings is instead at the 7th fret, this would be in the key of D.
Woody the Woodpecker Laugh in E
The actual Woody Woodpecker Laugh is slightly different than the theme song melody. Here it is in the key of E for the fun of it 🙂
Woody Woodpecker Theme Song Riff in A
Here is the whole riff played in the key of A. In our original blues the we did not use the 2nd part of this because we switched back to the key of E for the 2nd part of the theme riff. The A note is on the 2nd string at the 10th fret. Use this as your guide to move up or down the neck to play this version of the theme melody in other keys.
Woody the Woodpecker Laugh in A
And here is the laugh in this position.
