Major and minor
chord formulas

major chord formula = 1 3 5
minor chord formula = 1 b3 5

So again, the chord formula is just how the notes of a particular chord relate to a major scale with the same root. Below you can see a C major scale, and how the notes of a C major chord relate to that. Then you see the notes of a C minor chord, and how those notes relate to the C major scale.
