guitar vibrato techniques
Here are a couple of other common vibrato techniques.
This is the same basic motion as the vibrato that
you already learned. The only difference is that you are going
to let go of your thumb.

Here is another vibrato variation. This time you
are not resting your first finger on the neck, and therefore not
pivoting from that point. Here, even more so than before, you
are letting gravity pull your hand down.
This type of vibrato has a much more subtle effect. Instead of
moving the string vertically, you are moving the string horizontally.
This is the type of vibrato that classical guitar players use.
(My classical guitar teacher nearly had a heart attack when I
used a vertical vibrato in a lesson once.)
No matter which type of vibrato you are doing, use your hand,
wrist, and arm to make the movements. Never just wiggle a finger.
Not only will this not create a very good sounding vibrato, but
you could injure your finger.
