The Chromatic scale is all the notes in western music rather than the 7 notes in the major or minor scale or 5 notes in the Blues (minor pentatonic) or Country (major Pentatonic).
Here is the scale form. Note the Chromatic scale is simply 4 notes in a row on each string. Then 1 fret lower on the next string The one exception is between the G and B strings.

Try this exercise to familiarize yourself with the Chromatic scale.Simply play each note 3 times picking alternately. This picking pattern will help you with alternate picking as the pattern will let you feel the Up/Down picking like this: Down Up Down/ Up Down Up/ Down Up Down/ Up Down Up/ Practice very very slowly at first so as not to make mistakes. Each note you are alternating the first picking stroke.
