Question #6

Regarding the A chord......I can easily squeeze three fingers onto one fret. On the other hand, it's almost impossible for me to play the chord with one finger. Is the three finger method going to screw me up at some date in the far distant future when I actually can play this damn thing?

Answer

As far as the A chord goes, there will be things that you can't do with 3 fingers, and things you can't do with one. Therefore you should really practice both. Everybody's hand is a little different, and sometimes one of these fingerings is easier. If you are just playing a plain old A chord either one will do. The difference is when you start to add notes etc... Good luck
