Question #18

What is a Polychord?

Answer

A polychord is actually 2 different chords being play simultaneously, one on top of the other. They are more difficult to do on guitar than piano. But you could have the notes of the chord spit between 2 or more instruments. So you could have 2 guitar players playing a polychord.

A polychord is written like this.

Bm
C

That means that you have a Bm chord played on top of a C chord. Unlike a slash chord Bm/C which means that you have a Bm chord over a C bass note.

Polychords are a way of getting a very complex chord sound with by using simpler chord structures combined together.
