Here’s a way to play an E power chord on the guitar when a regular old wimpy E5 chord just won’t do
This is a very fat sounding power chord. ( or is it phat? )

I call this a Towering E Power Chord. An E power chord is just made up of 2 notes. An E and B.
If you look at the most basic open position E5 chord, you are just playing an open E on the 6th string, and a B note on the 5th string.

Stack another E on top of that on the 4th string and you get this version of an E5 chord…

Stack another B on top of that on the 3rd string and you get this E power chord…

And finally to get the full Towering E5 Power Chord you are going to add an E note on the 2nd string…

So you just keep stacking E’s and B’s on top of each other until you get this big sounding E5 Chord.
