Changing the strings on an acoustic guitar
Changing the strings on a steel string acoustic guitar is going to be basically the same as the electric. The only difference is how the string will attach to the bridge. Follow all of the steps in the previous section on how to change the strings on an electric guitar. But replace steps 2 thru 4 with these.
Step #2
The string winder has a build in peg puller. Use it as a lever and pry the bridge pin out of the bridge. If you have trouble pulling the bridge pin out, you may need to use some pliers to gently twist the stuck pin. Then remove the old string.
Step #3
Stick the ball end of the new string slightly down into the hole. The bridge pin has a groove in it. As you are putting the bridge pin back into the hole with the end of the new string, line that groove so that it is facing the string (towards the sound hole).
Step #4
As you push the bridge pin in, also pull up slightly on the string. What should happen is that the ball end of the string will slip up and lock into the groove of the bridge pin. You will sometimes hear a slight "pop" sound to let you know this has happened. If the ball end does not lock into that groove, you may find that the bridge pin will keep coming out of the hole as you tighten the string.
