Oh yes, it's another major add 9 chord. Ya can't have enough of them. Spice up those boring, Plain Jane major chords with the added 9th. The red circle is the root of the chord (the letter name). If this chord were played so that your 3rd finger is on the 5th fret, the chord would be written like this...Dadd9 or D(add9) or DaddE or D(addE). E is the ninth degree in a D major scale, that is why it is called an "add 9 chord". Sometime in the chord symbol the actual added note (E in this case) is written instead of saying add9.
